Domestic Violence and Stalking: Understanding the Issues and Handling Cases
Domestic violence in Oregon is on the rise. So far, domestic violence has killed nine Oregonians this year. Last year 22 people were killed. Domestic violence is not limited by age, gender, income, education levels, or geography.
This seminar provides information and resources from a civil perspective to help victims of domestic violence. Learn how to identify domestic violence, and gain an understanding of the cycle of abuse, types of abuse, and resources to help domestic abuse victims. Understand the differences between a restraining order and a stalking protective order, and how to handle these types of cases, including preparing your clients for a hearing. Find out what happens when parties to restraining and stalking protective orders have firearms in their possession. A panel of experts discusses how culture and society affect domestic violence victims and your representation of them.
Domestic violence knows no boundaries. Don’t miss this opportunity to help someone draw the line.
