Representing Clients with Personality Disorders
“Why can’t you be reasonable?” Personality disorders affect 10% to 15% of the U.S. population. These disorders impair a person’s judgment, relationships with others, and the overall ability to cope. Studies suggest that an inordinate amount of litigation is generated by and on behalf of individuals with these disorders.
This seminar helps you identify the presence of these disorders and how to deal effectively with affected clients. The first half examines the medical and psychiatric background used to detect the presence of disorders and suggest coping mechanisms for the lawyers involved. Afterward, practitioners with experience representing such clients share their practice tips and strategies in the areas of estate planning, civil litigation, and criminal law.
