Ethics in Digital Communications—OSB CLE Quick Call (Replay)
Brought to you in partnership with Webcredenza, a professional education broadcast network

1 Ethics credit
The way in which lawyers do their work and communicate with their clients has been forever changed by technology. The technology lawyers use as a matter of course—Blackberries and wireless networks, application sharing, and working from virtual offices—raises significant ethical issues. All information is now digital and easily converted to various formats and exchanged instantly—and sometimes accidentally. This program discusses often-overlooked ethical issues in using increasingly popular forms of technology in law practice.
- WiFi and wireless networks: Ethical issues when transmitting information through the air
- Blackberries and iPhones: Confidentiality when communicating with clients
- “Cloud computing”: Using shared online resources for document creation, storage, and transmittal
- Emerging ethical concerns in lawyers’ use of social media
- Working from home on shared networks
Speaker: Peter Tennyson is a partner in the Costa Mesa, California, office of Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP, where his practice focuses on corporate transactional work, including corporate buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, and the public and private placement of securities. A major portion of his practice involves the negotiation, structuring, and financing of acquisitions and dispositions for privately held companies and private equity funds.
